Make Your Own Daruma Doll!
Thu Mar 05 2026 4:30PM – 6:00PM
Event Description:
Come paint your own daruma doll with us, or enter a raffle for a professionally made daruma doll! Daruma dolls are traditional Japanese papier-mâché dolls that are meant to signify working towards a goal or making a wish. Both eyes are empty when you start, and you fill in the left eye when you have a goal in mind. Then, you fill the right eye when that goal is accomplished. Daruma dolls are symbols of good luck and perseverance while working towards a goal, and are made in the image of the founder of Zen Buddhism, Bodhidharma. We will give a brief overview of the history and significance of Daruma dolls, as well as point out the symbolism incorporated into the design, and then we will let you paint your own and make your own wish.
